Christmas Gift - Graphite & Charcoal Cat Portrait of Zak

Well I think Zak's portrait is complete! I will leave him overnight and may make minor tweaks. The scan does not show the graduations in tone as well as I would like. Some areas look a little choppy in the scan, but if gives the general idea. I think the dark background is throwing the balance off a bit for the scan.

Zak looks wonderful! i never had much luck scanning my work. it always seems to distort the values...especially the lightest areas. it just blew them out completely. have you ever considered taking a digital photo instead and adjusting it in your photo editor? just a thought......

Thanks Billie! Yes I am scan and photo challenged as I have tried both. But I did just get a new camera and am having great results with it so my watercolor work in progress will be done using photos rather than scans and looks pretty true to life....so far ;)
